Blogger / writer
Econsultancy is expanding its editorial team and is on the hunt for a blogger / writer to contribute to our award-winning blog. Regular tasks will include writing articles, conducting interviews, editing blog posts and attending Econsultancy / industry events.
Writers *must* have a deep passion for all things internet. We focus on exploring best (and worst) practice in e-commerce, digital marketing, user experience, SEO, social media and content marketing, among other things.
Existing knowledge of these areas is expected, as you’ll be writing in-depth articles about these topics on a daily basis. In time you will become an expert. We will guide and train you along the way.
Editorial experience is necessary for this position, unless you are an exceptional candidate with an internet industry background and demonstrable first-class writing skills.
What else? Well, you will need to be naturally inquisitive, as all good writers are. You will need a thick skin. You will be very keen to succeed, and not afraid of targets. And you will not need – or want – to be micromanaged.
In short, we’re looking for a talented, hard-working self-starter with plenty of ideas. This is a fantastic role with great prospects.
Here’s what our ideal candidate looks like. Most of these 15 points are filed under ‘essential’.
1. The highest of editorial standards
2. Factual accuracy and attention to detail
3. An understanding of content marketing
4. An awareness of George Orwell’s six rules for writing
5. The ability to learn fast
6. An allergy to PRspeak and jargon
7. Listening skills that would shame an owl
8. Analytical skills and a fearless approach to data
9. Industry connections and an established social media presence
10. The ability to ask all the right questions
11. Some basic technical knowledge
12. A distinctive voice
13. Boundless charm
Writers will be based in our London office. There are myriad benefits to joining Econsultancy, including free gym membership for the saints, and beers on Friday for the sinners.
We operate in a fantastic working environment and are growing quickly, with offices in North America, Australia and Asia.
