Job Description

To drive sales and margin across non store channels through a merchandising strategy that is aligned with the B&Q Customer plan.

Leverage and mobilise the full capabilities of B&Q digital trading platform and tools to align B&Q commercial objectives with customer needs, and exploit opportunities unique to digital channels.

Hold tension between category merchandising activities where competing interests manifest, and ensure that the overall proposition can be exploited to B&Q maximum commercial advantage.
Keep the customer at the heart of everything we do. Drive continuous improvement in the non store channels.

Create the Omni channel merchandising plan

Measure, monitor and report on customer and commercial activity in line with Omni Channel Merchandising plan

Ensure correct metrics are in place to prove success of Merchandising/ Trading strategies

Empower and support Category and Brand Merchandisers to plan, meet and exceed their objectives

Drive awareness of shifting Merchandising and customer behaviour paradigms and adapt our capabilities to enable B&Q to exploit them.

Lead collaboration with value chain to ensure sufficient stock coverage

Collaborate across B&Q and Kingfisher brands to share best practice and experience

Input to and influence Buying and Commercial Planning functions to ensure the right customer product proposition is in place for non-store channels.

Input to and influence pricing and promotion mechanisms to meet and exceed sales & margin targets

Drive customer profiling activity to enable B&Q to move to a customer Lifetime Value Model and enable customer segmentation

Make full use of Customer analytics and insights data to drive merchandising/ trading decisions

Drive the use of digital content that meets customer and commercial objectives

Create, manage and maintain prioritisation mechanism for digital real-estate

Hold merchandising/ trading team to account for trading performance

Be accountable for, collate and report on performance to senior management/ Leader team

Able to see and exploit new brand opportunities

Candidate Requirements

Commercial thought leadership with an excellent analytical mind that creates and drives trading strategies with defined business cases.

A commercial focus comfortable with working to target and setting the pace in a fast moving retail environment

Confident ambassador for B&Q with the gravitas to influence at a senior level

A working knowledge of ATG and Sitebuilder tools

Driving actionable measurement mechanisms for intangible and soft indicators (for instance: store footfall drivers, NPS, customer satisfaction)

Aware of the opportunities and constraints provided by the Oracle/ ATG suite of e-commerce tools

An understanding of analytics and customer experience methods and practices

Demonstrable achiever experience in a targeted sales environment (this may be contact centre sales management, online sales or similar)

Is aware of Waterfall and Agile delivery methods
