Head of Digital Content & User Experience
About the role
Here at the National Trust, we understand the importance of digital and social media. We
appreciate the pivotal role they have to play in helping us engage with new and existing
supporters in exciting, relevant ways, and in allowing us to share the amazing stories of our
special places. We also recognise that the digital space is constantly evolving and innovating – and that’s where you come in. We want you to head up our Digital Content & User Experience work. The digital function is a key part of our marketing communications team and has specific areas of expertise in content, SEO, user experience, design, social media and campaign development. Together, they work across the full range of user-facing digital products (websites, mobile and Facebook apps, and campaign microsites). The teams also support the systems that underpin them, including CMS and data models.
As well as managing and prioritising workloads, you’ll communicate the Trust’s digital and content strategy and progress to the rest of the organisation, ensure that budgets and projects remain on track, and liaise closely with other departments i.e. IT. You’ll also work with key external digital partners to develop strategy and deliver digital solutions.

digital is rightly prioritised and ambitions and appetite for change are high. We’re looking for you to inspire the organisation with knowledge and help lead our digital innovation. And while this is only a temporary position, it’s an opportunity chance to gain valuable practical experience within a large charitable organisation - experience which could lead to other career opportunities, both within and outside of the Trust.
Experience in team management is important. You’ll certainly be a natural leader, but you may well be an up and coming digital star looking for your first senior management role. More than anything, you’ll share our passion for digital. You’ll be excited by innovation and have a finger firmly on the digital pulse. Confident, credible and persuasive, you’ll be used to negotiating and communicating at a senior level and will love the challenge of delivering change within such a well-known organisation.
