Lead User Experience Designer
We are seeking a passionate, motivated, experienced and talented Lead User Experience Designer to form and develop a team of approximately 5 UX professionals, each embedded within a Scrum team. You will lead and play an integral role in driving a user centred design approach in an agile development process. You should be passionate about building easy-to-use, dynamic e-commerce interfaces and experiences that are engaging, simple, functional and fun! You will want to feel like you work in a start-up, while at the same time having the resources of a large company.
This influencial role will enable you to stategically form and lead the in-house European UX Design capability as well as staying hands on, getting involved in scrum team deliverables.

•Recruit, develop and lead a team of UX designers
•Mentor and support the UX team to adopt best practise
•Champion UX design across eBay Europe
•Develop thought leadership around design technologies, tools, trends & methodologies

•Able to play a hands-on role in the production of design assets
•Manage design agency relationships
•Advocate user centred design in an agile development environment
•Work effectively with multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams
The European User Experience Design team is located across London and Zurich. You will lead a group of User Experience Designers embedded within agile development teams and engaged on multiple externally facing and internal web tool projects across Europe. You are expected to have a broad knowledge of using user research results and creation of UX concepts, interaction design, information architecture and visual design. You will work closely with agile teams to rapidly develop design concepts in an iterative fashion as well as support them to deliver any UX assets needed by the development teams. You will also be supported by a specialist team of user experience researchers.
European UX Design is part of the eBay European Product and Development group that is responsible for driving product design, development and innovation for the European eBay Marketplace, particularly where European strategies differ from the global product roadmap. We work in small, distributed project teams following an agile methodology. Cross functional teams include product management, product development, user experience design and research,. content strategy and quality engineering. These teams work together to create successful products that deliver maximum value to eBay users and the business with a short time to market.
Desired Skills & Experience
To be successful in this role you will need a broad range of skills that includes:
•Expert knowledge of UX principles, processes and methodologies
•Excellent practical experience in user centred design, interaction design & visual/creative design
•Excellent grasp of web design principles
•Be open minded to working in a "non traditional" UCD environment, fitting into a fast paced Scrum development model
•Creating UX assets such as customer journeys, sketches, sitemaps, wireframes and mock-ups to visualise design concepts
•Creating clickable prototypes for usability testing
•Creating visual/creative assets using Photoshop or other industry standard tools
•Rapid development of high-fidelity prototypes.
•Creative problem solving and can demonstrate out-of-the box thinking
•Effectively collaborate, communicate, influence and negotiate with stakeholders
•Good people management skills
•Minimum 5 years experience as a User Experience Designer
•An impressive online design portfolio
•Legally able to work in EU
•Fluent in spoken and written English
•Able to travel to EU and US (10%)
•Experience of working in an Agile/SCRUM development environment
•Postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline eg HCI, Interaction Design, Product Design.
•German language skills
•Experience of working in retail e-commerce and marketplace environments
•A mix of agency and in house experience
•Managing external UX and design agencies
